Out of hours emergency

If your call is during the night or at the weekend whilst our practices are closed, please ring your normal surgery (HOLT 01263 713200 WELLS 01328 711022)  where your call will be redirected to the relevant out of hours service.

Please note: An out-of-hours consultation fee payable at the time of consultation will be charged. Please ask when you call for the current fee.

The Grove Veterinary Hospital will look after the out-of-hours service between 6:00pm and 8:30am weekdays excluding Bank holidays and midday on Saturday until 8:30am on Mondays.

Glaven Vets will care for their own inpatients Monday to Friday, unless intensive care is required. Depending on the severity of the patient condition, it may be transferred by the practice, or the client may be requested to transfer their pet  for overnight care.

Please note there is no continuous supervision of inpatients overnight at Glaven Vets. The frequency of inpatient checks is determined by the severity of the condition, but the minimal intervention is a check between 10-11pm. If there are any concerns the inpatient vet will either come in to assist or do another check during the night. If they are stable their next check will be at 8am when the day shift arrives. Clients can be updated of these checks.

Clients can request for their patients to be transferred to The Grove Veterinary Hospital, Fakenham for 24 hour care instead of remaining at Glaven Vets as an overnight inpatient.

If your pet is transferred to The Grove, registered clients of Glaven Vets will be informed by the night vet at The Grove to collect their pet for discharge or to return it  to the Holt practice if ongoing day  care is needed. The client is required to pay on collection. This will be the case for any patients we have transferred or that have been admitted through the out of hours service.

Inpatients who are not fit to travel can remain at The Grove Veterinary Hospital.

Direct claims can be processed through The Grove but this needs to be agreed between the client and The Grove.

Saturday inpatients – Any inpatients will be transferred to The Grove and collected by staff from Glaven Vets on Monday morning if they require ongoing care, otherwise they will be discharged by The Grove Vet Hospital back to the client.
