Important Changes to our Out of Hours Service From 9th March 2020
Glaven Vets and Miramar Vets will now be sharing an out of hours service. This means if you call our surgery outside normal working hours (which are 8.30am-6pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am -12pm Saturday) then the service provided could be either Glaven Vets or Miramar Vets. Whichever practice is on duty, this will be the practice who will provide first opinion emergency care or advice for your pet.
Why the changes?
There is a shortage of qualified vets nationwide, so many practices are finding it hard to recruit vets especially if an emergency service is provided. Other veterinary practices are having to totally outsource their emergency clinic which could mean travelling a greater distance. We want to be able to carry on providing this service, using our own vets and nurses and the only way to do this is to share this service between these two very local sites.
Please be assured that your pets wellbeing is our priority, this is the only way we can make this work without having to outsource completely.
If your pet is admitted for treatment during normal clinic opening hours
Your pet will be looked after by your original vets as normal until they are ready for discharge, unless your pet needs our care over a weekend. In this case your pet will be transferred free of charge to the vets who are providing the out of hours service that weekend (usually late Saturday morning).
Your pet will then stay at that practice until they are ready for discharge.
The vet who is admitting your pet will inform you which practice will be caring for your pet.
If your pet is admitted for treatment during out of hours or weekends
Your pet will be admitted at either Glaven Vets in Holt or Miramar Vets in Sheringham, depending on which practice is on duty. Your pet will then stay there until they are ready for discharge. If you prefer your pet to be cared for by your original vets after the weekend you have a choice to transfer them yourself, if a vet feels your pet is well enough to travel.
All fees will need paying to the practice who has been looking after your pet. This may mean you have two final bills. If you would like to claim on your pet insurance then you will need two claim forms, one for each practice.
